Discount Travel Secret: Are You Ready For Black Friday?

Discount Travel Secrets: Are You Ready For Black Friday?

Hi Reader,

Next week is basically the Super Bowl kick-off of travel deals.

We’ve got Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and the big one for all of us Travel Tuesday.

This is honestly one of the best times of the entire year to save serious money on next year’s vacations.

And the easiest way to take advantage of these sales is to start thinking now about the trips you want to take in 2026.

When you already know what you want, you can spot the good deals immediately instead of doom scrolling through every random sale that pops up.

To make it even simpler, break your trip planning into these four categories and look for deals in each one.

1. Transportation

Start with how you plan to get there.

If you fly, check airlines, flight search engines, mistake fare websites, and any loyalty programs you already use.

If you drive, look at:

  • rental car companies
  • gas station rewards (these promos get surprisingly good during the holidays)
  • airport shuttles
  • bus and train tickets
  • even local transportation in the city you’re visiting

When you narrow it down like this, it becomes clear which deals actually apply to the trip you want to take.

Some examples:

Delta Airlines Black Friday Sale

Frontier Airlines Black Friday Sale

Lufthansa Airlines Black Friday Sale

Skyscanner Black Friday Sale

Expedia Black Friday Deals

2. Lodging

Once you know how you’re getting there, look at where you’re staying:

  • hotel booking sites
  • major hotel brands
  • boutique hotels and bed and breakfasts
  • Airbnb or Vrbo
  • unique stays like treehouses or glamping pods
  • campgrounds and RV rental companies

If you already know your destination, check to see if those hotels or local stays usually run Black Friday or Travel Tuesday promotions.

Many do.

Some examples:

Hilton Black Friday Sale

KOA Sale

3. Activities

This is where trips get fun and where you can save a surprising amount.

Look for discounts on:

  • admission tickets
  • guided tours
  • local experiences
  • theme parks
  • seasonal activities
  • city passes

So many tour companies offer deep Travel Tuesday deals, and they’re usually much better than anything you’ll see the rest of the year.

Some examples:

Viator Black Friday Deals

GoCity Passes Black Friday Deals

Legoland Black Friday Deals

4. Dining

Most people don’t think to check this category, but it absolutely adds up.

Look at:

  • restaurant gift card deals
  • grocery store rewards
  • grocery delivery like Instacart or Walmart Plus
  • DoorDash or Uber Eats promos
  • dining rewards programs

Buying a couple of discounted restaurant gift cards now can literally save you money on your vacation months from today.

In the meantime, start thinking:

Where do you want to go next year?

And what parts of that trip could you save on if you grab the right deal next week?

Once you’ve got that list, all the Black Friday and Travel Tuesday noise turns into actual savings.

Let me know what destinations you’re planning for 2026!

See you next week,

Eva and JP 💎

Discount Travel Secret: National Parks Free Entrance Days Hi Reader, When JP and I first started traveling together back in 2017 we didn't have much money (I was in grad school, working 2 full time jobs, and living in the notoriously expensive area of Southern California). I wasn't sure how long I'd be living out there and I wanted to see and do as much as I could while I had the opportunity. So we started taking some overnight and weekend trips to national parks because of how inexpensive...

Discount Travel Secret: Groupon Discounts Hi Reader, Something JP and I bought recently was a Groupon bundle for a local entertainment center that included an escape room for 2 + an appetizer for $36. When we lived in California, most escape rooms would make us buy out the room if it was just the 2 of us, so it would cost about $100-$110 for us to do an escape room. Being in Ohio now, most escape rooms are about $30-$35 per person and we don't have to buy out rooms, so it costs nearly half of...
